What's Our Sunroom Story?

The story of WinterGreen Solariums, Inc. began in Maine in 1985 when Lewis Whitaker built a new home and decided that he wanted to include a sunroom. He was unable to find a company that could provide a sunroom product or install it. He finally found a sunroom company and ordered the product, teaching himself how to install it. Finding the sunroom perfect for adding light to his home and the changing New England weather, Lewis began the process of teaching carpenters the sunroom installation process and WinterGreen Solariums, Inc. (WinterGreen) was born. The company is owned exclusively by Lewis and Janice Whitaker, who invite you to visit their beautiful showroom on Riverside Street in Portland.

What We Do

WinterGreen is a full scale remodeling company that specializes in the design and installation of Betterliving Sunrooms, Conservatories, Patio Rooms and Greenhouses.  

All of our sunroom projects are created and planned by a WinterGreen designer to satisfy our client's unique requirements. The construction, coordination and supervision of each project is performed by the company's production management department.
